The prevailing global economic system has aggravated the vulnerability of indigenous communities to the impacts of the climate crisis
"They need to be protected because their lives are being threatened by this kind of project,” said Bishop Valentin Dimoc
The groups said the resolution of the UN Human Rights Council will benefit the “poor and marginalized communities who are most vulnerable” to the impacts of climate change.
More than 30 faith-based and civil society organizations and three Catholic bishops have signed a letter urging the fossil gas project proponents and financial institutions to “listen” to the affected communities.
