Philippine faith-based group to launch Vatican’s 40-day prayer campaign for ecology

October 3, 2021

Living Laudato Si Philippines (LLS) has announced that it will initiate a 40-day prayer campaign aimed to promote the message of Pope Francis’ encyclical on the environment.

The prayer drive, which is co-sponsored by the Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, will begin on October 4, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, and will end on November 14, the World Day of Prayer for the Poor.

The campaign aims to connect the seven sectors joining the Laudato Si Action Platforms (LSAP) with a dedicated day of prayer for each. Prayers are based on the seven Laudato Si Goals.

The Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development has published the full set of prayers in a cloud drive, which the public can access here.

On November 14,  the Vatican will publish the Laudato Si’ Planning Guides and all related materials to encourage church institutions and civil society organizations “to make a firm commitment to creating their own Laudato Si’ Plans.”

LLS said the Dicastery “sees a need to continue building on the dynamic conversations taking place” with the Philippine organization and its close to 200 partners.

LLS has been an “integral co-leader” of efforts to build the Laudato si’ Action Platform, serving as a member of the global steering board of the movement.
