“We are calling for a 25-year moratorium or suspension on the approval of any mining applications and mining expansions,” the bishops said.
The bishops called on the public to support the program and work together for a “just energy transition that respects our common home”
The diocese also stressed that the Himogaan River is also culturally significant, hosting “Adlaw Sang Suba” and supporting tourism, irrigating sugarcane fields, and aiding coastal fishing.
