The groups said the resolution of the UN Human Rights Council will benefit the “poor and marginalized communities who are most vulnerable” to the impacts of climate change.
More than 30 faith-based and civil society organizations and three Catholic bishops have signed a letter urging the fossil gas project proponents and financial institutions to “listen” to the affected communities.
The diocese launched a campaign demanding the local government to “stand firm in its duty to ensure the safety, convenience, and well-being of its constituents.”
